
You are ready. You’ve decided. 2018 is your year for health renewal! You’re excited and ready to eat right and exercise!
But not yet.
Not until after the holidays.
Yeah, I get that. There are too many obstacles. Too many parties. Too much stress!
“I want to enjoy my holidays!” said the masses across the country. 🙂
There are a few things you can do right now, TODAY, to get ready for your new habits and take some steps in the right direction without “ruining” your holidays.
1. Adopt a “Maintain, Don’t Gain” attitude.
Enjoy your celebrations. But know that you’re going to be trying to lose weight soon, and you don’t want to add anything to the scale that you just have to take off 2 weeks from now. This resolution is going to be tough enough, don’t add to it now because you want another drink, or another cookie. Start prepping yourself for your new habits with a positive tone.
Imagine that you’re about to eat a big piece of pizza- you could say one of two things to yourself:
A. “Enjoy it now, in a few weeks you won’t get to have any fun like this anymore.”
B. “I’m excited about my new healthy habits. I’ve read that after a while, I won’t even want this anymore.”
Do you see how one is negative, making it seem like your future is bleak and no good? and the other is positive, reminding yourself that this is a good thing, with possibilities unexplored? Your attitude will be the key to success.
2. Start planning
Just because you aren’t putting the plan into action yet doesn’t mean that you can’ be planning and prepping for it. A big part of Oakland Fits programs  have to do with planning. What are you going to eat? What are your Macro goals? How many times a week will you exercise? What exercises will you be doing? These are just a few points to be addressed of an action plan. An action plan will increase your success.
Imagine that you’re clicking through Pinterest recipes and you see a beautiful picture of a delicious meal. You decide you’re going to make it! You aren’t a chef, but the picture is good enough. You know basically what you need to do, so you don’t follow a recipe. You just cook it the way it appears in the picture. How did that dinner turn out? So so? Not great? That’s because following a recipe with exact measurements and ingredients that enhance flavors are the key to that dinners success.
Now start clicking through Pinterest and see all the fitness models. You decide you are going to make yourself look like that! Much like the dinner, with no plan or recipe, your fitness goals will turn out fairly unsuccessful and you’ll end up defeated. So get planning!
3. Start Adding Good    Most people start new weight loss programs with the idea of what they CAN’T have anymore. While there are definitely things to be removed from your life, there are plenty of things to add as well. Without removing anything delicious that you aren’t ready for, you can ADD nutrition and exercise to your day.
These are just a few ways that you can start taking action now to prepare yourself for the big changes that you will do in January. Sustainable weight loss is possible through small changes that become part of your life. 2018 is going to be your year of weight loss success!
